Have you ever felt like everyone around you has a story, but if someone asked you for one, you wouldn’t have a clue what to say? Please be assured you are not alone. There are many reasons that people don’t share their stories. I’ve made a list of the top 9 that I have come across that keep people from sharing their stories.

See if you can relate to any of them.

  1. We are so overwhelmed with all that is on our plate, we don’t even know where to begin to find a story.
  2. We lack the confidence in communicating our story.
  3. We have refused to put the time, energy, and finances necessary into learning the storytelling skills.
  4. We don’t believe that we are worth investing in.
  5. We wouldn’t know what to do with a story even if we found one.
  6. We have attempted to share our story before and people weren’t interested.
  7. We don’t have a clue how to take our story and hone it into 2 to 3 minutes in length.
  8. We have no idea how our story could possibly bring in more business.
  9. We don’t believe that others would want to hear our story.

Could you connect with any of these reasons? I would love to hear what you connected with or other reasons that keep you from telling your story.
